Mission Statement

  • The Primary mission of the Cape May County Sheriff's Office is to be an effective part of the civil and criminal law enforcement efforts of the State of New Jersey. The office recognizes its moral obligation to the citizens of the County of Cape May to be fiscally responsible and utilize sound management procedures.

  • The Sheriff's Office principle responsibility is to ensure the security of the Courts, the Correctional Center, and the welfare and safety of the community, the staff and inmates. All efforts will be taken to prevent any breach of security that could endanger the welfare of the general public,staff, and those entrusted to our care. Sheriff's Office Policy and Procedure will be professionally developed and rigorously adhered to in an effort to prevent any breach of security.

  • The Sheriff's Office promotes and supports the professional development of its employees and the implementation of sound correctional practices. It is committed to providing continuous staff training on current police and correctional issues, and encourages personal development through education.

  • The Sheriff's office will afford equal opportunity to qualified individuals regardless of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, marital status, political affiliation, disabilities or handicap as defined by the American with Disabilities Act, Additionally, all persons incarcerated will be afforded equal participation in any and all programs offered by the institution such as religious services, recreational activities, educational activities, rehabilitation, and legal services subject to need of institutional security.
